Based on his experience with “Adilson,” the artist who gave his name to Dino D’Santiago’s first opera led three dance workshops for different schools in the Algarve, combining practice, cultural context, and artistic creation.
Aimed at secondary school students, this dance workshop presented by Adilson is a proposal for practical reflection on the body and cultural context in artistic practice. Based on Dino d’Santiago’s opera Adilson, three sessions were developed with three different groups from various schools in the Algarve to promote a moment of engagement and focus through physical and rhythmic exercises and group dynamics. The connection between movement, identity, and social issues present in the work served as a starting point for choreographic creation, stimulating listening, individual expression, and collective work.
Bonny The Gemini (Adilson) is a choreographer, performer, and creator of New Flow Style, a fusion of New Style, Popping, and Afropop that inspires his Gemini style. He grew up in Portugal, in the Algarve, where he trained through national and international workshops, developing his creative method as a self-taught artist, influenced by various teachers and urban dance styles. Bonny had the privilege of performing at the MTV Awards in Portugal as a dancer for Gorillaz, as well as at the Gala das Sete Maravilhas de Portugal, broadcast on RTP1. Since then, he has collaborated with top artists such as Sam The Kid, Dino D’Santiago, Da Weasel, Expensive Soul, Nuno Guerreiro, and João Lum.
He is best known for his GEMINI Method, a hybrid teaching system that consciously integrates the technical-performative dancer—discipline, precision, repetition, and form—with the author-cultural dancer—identity, improvisation, presence, and truth. This method has allowed Bonny to teach masterclasses and workshops nationwide. In Portugal, he teaches regularly in the Algarve, in cities such as Lagos, Portimão, and Albufeira.
