Mutantes Performance

The performative activation in someBODY’s shoes is the final event of the Mutantes project, which spent four months exploring alternative formats, or other existences within conventional formats, thus questioning the performative dimension of places and things.

Determinations are designed by people; other people make rules to comply with them; the rules determined are thus designed in spaces; spaces are marked on the bodies of all other people, the bodies of countless people are marked in works of art, and works of art mark people already marked, designing normative spaces. And what do we do with what does not fit into the norms, with what is left over from the determinations, with the desires that exceed the rules of the spaces, with the dreams that other bodies dream? We take off our shoes, we put our feet on ground not yet trodden, we remake the body with the shoes that are beside us.

In this durational performative occupation, we propose to discover the economical gesture that changes the norm, the infinitely small action that displaces determination, the serene invitation that changes the design, the simple and unusual rule that remakes the body. In different rooms designed for the exhibition format, small invitations/challenges are thrown at the body so that it can achieve a performative format.
Seeing in another way, sitting in another format, moving at another pace, paying attention to something else, seeing the other, being the other, being the same in the other’s shoes.

ABOUT THE PROJECT
Mutantes – between theater and museum is a participatory project, open to anyone aged 21 or over, which aims to bring together a community of people around the exploration of transdisciplinarity as a space for thought, practice, and a tool for collective cultural constructions. It focuses on the dialogue between the stage and the museum as artistic instances configured by devices that bring together strategies of making things visible. Rather than addressing discourses and practices of various artistic genres, the aim is to explore and question the terrain of contamination between them, inquiring into the urgency to change, transform, readapt, vary, and transmute.
