Gary Hill is one of the most important contemporary artists in the investigation of the relationship between words, sounds and electronic images. The video image, with its sound, is explored through different approaches to discourse analysis and language models, as a semantic and semiotic system. His investigations in the field of linguistics and perception offer resounding philosophical and poetic reflections, in a continuous exploration of formal conjunctions of visual and sound electronic elements with the body and identity.
In this workshop, the North American artist Gary Hill proposes to develop a practical work with a restricted group of participants around experimentation with different electronic media. Using individual monitors, video projectors or sound work, this is a unique opportunity to get in close contact with Gary Hill, an artist who continues to explore a number of diverse issues in his body of work: the physicality of language, synesthesia, perceptual concepts, ontological space or interactivity with the viewer.
