It is the first time that Argentine choreographer and dancer conducts a workshop in Portugal. In this workshop, Cecilia Bengolea proposes to dance and film inside (Casa da Dança de Almada) and outside the studio (Cais do Ginjal, in front of the Tagus river).

Conceived by John Romão and co-directed by John Romão and Salomé Lamas, the recreation of the conference "The Theatre and the Plague", by Antonin Artaud (1933), is presented in streaming, from several empty theaters and different geographies.

Recorded at São Luiz Municipal Theatre (Lisbon), with the actress Cucha Carvalheiro and Aida Tavares, artistic director of the theatre.

Ecotemporaries is a project that links literature with the green spaces of the city of Lisbon. Open, inclusive and accessible, in each session a new guest chooses a book and connects it to the green space where the public gathers. It has the presence of an Sign Language Interpreter and the printing book in braille.

BoCA SUMMER SCHOOL 2020

The Spanish artist Dora García comes to Lisbon for the first time to conduct a performance workshop at MAAT Museum. How to react to a reality system that is not part of it? The feeling of strangeness is increasing, the distance is increasing, and it is increasingly difficult to find anchor points in a system that repeats the same mistakes over and over.

BoCA IN ÁGUEDA

On the weekend of 12 and 13 September, BoCA presents an extension of its programming at the Águeda Arts Center, with free entry. Composed of 5 recent commissions (BoCA 2019), creations by Gonçalo M. Tavares & Os Espacialistas, Tania Bruguera, Jonas & Lander, Mariana Tengner Barros and Horácio Frutuoso travel to Águeda.

Dance

Choreographers and artists Gerard & Kelly return to Lisbon to direct a workshop. How do we fall into and out of sync with each other? How is time the technical support of both performance art and social relations? How might an awareness of time lead us to history and to politics? What is queer, feminist, and post-colonial about time?

Theatre

Imagine a conference that nobody goes to. A performance in which the main invited scientists do not appear physically, but are represented by local artists. "Absentee Conference" is a project for which the company Rimini Protokoll is researching. In Lisbon, it will be a workshop on global cooperation in a global crisis for students and professionals in the performing arts, writing and related fields.

In this conference, he will show and comment short videos on recent productions of the german theatre label Rimini Protokoll including 50 remote controlled spectators, 100 statistically chosen citizens of São Paulo as well as international weapon dealers and immersive spaces remembering the legacies of people after the end of their lives.

Cinema

The filmmakers João Pedro Rodrigues & João Rui Guerra da Mata lead the workshop "Fiction 2 meters away", where they discuss what might be the cinema with restrictions / limitations / conditionalities / setbacks / obstacles / antagonisms / obstacles, that is , the daily constraints of cinematographic creation. Participants are invited to bring their film drafts or audiovisual projects.

TANIA BRUGUERA

“Narciso” evokes the migration and refugee crisis. Through the eye of Tania Bruguera, this movement gains an expression of individual crisis centered in the body and the identity of each spectator.

ECOTEMPORÂNEOS

Ecotemporaries is a project that links literature with the green spaces of the city of Lisbon. Open, inclusive and accessible, in each session a new guest chooses a book and connects it to the green space where the public gathers. It has the presence of an Sign Language Interpreter and the printing book in braille.
