
In this masterclass, artist and performer Julián Pacomio shares his artistic journey and the creative process behind the project “The Sun Trilogy”, an investigation into the different intensities, mythologies and dramaturgies of sunlight throughout the day.
The trilogy is made up of “Apocalipsis entre Amigues”, “Toda la Luz del Mediodía” and “Os Teus Mortos”, the last two parts of which will be presented as part of the BoCA-Bienal de Artes Contemporâneas, at the Sala Estúdio Valentim de Barros / TNDMII, on September 13 and 14, and at Espaço BoCA, on October 19, respectively.

Biography
Julián Pacomio is an artist, performer, curator and researcher. Graduated in Fine Arts and Philosophy, with a master’s degree in Scenic Practices and Visual Culture, he is a member of the PACAP program (Lisbon, 2020). His work is based on the appropriation, translation and displacement of other people’s materials, exploring copying, remaking and plagiarism as forms of critical creation. She regularly collaborates with artists and choreographers such as João Fiadeiro, Carolina Campos, Luis Garay, Gustavo Ciríaco and Annika Pannitto. With Ángela Millano, she has been developing the Asleep Images project since 2018, where they investigate latent or forgotten performative images, giving rise to pieces such as Make It, Don’t Fake It (2019), PSYCHO (2020) or Point para la Fantasía (2022). Her practice combines theater, performance and curatorial discourse, questioning the limits of authorship, memory and representation. He has presented work at institutions such as the Reina Sofía Museum, La Casa Encendida, Matadero Madrid, CA2M, Tabakalera, Azkuna Zentroa, IVAM, Museo del Chopo (Mexico City), CCE Montevideo, Temps d’Images, Festival Sâlmon, Atelier Real or TBA. He is co-founder of NOVO FESTIVAL (Lisbon) and curator of cycles such as NO NO NO SOLO SOLO NO and Contemplar una superficie inestable (winner of Inéditos, La Casa Encendida, 2021). He is a member of the collectives Bullshit (with activities in Mexico and Uruguay) and Atelier Real. Her practice takes on a political and experimental dimension, linking the performing arts, critical thinking and curating, in a continuous gesture of recomposing the scene and its images.
