Bad and Sick

The notion of reenactment, especially associated to the visual arts but expanding in other artistic territories, is gaining relevance and versatility in the discourse of contemporary cultural and artistic practices. By combining central issues of politics and memory, the transmission of tradition, cultural appropriation, and the ability to narrate and stage history, the concept of reenactment can be seen through a plethora of interesting and pertinent aspects.

In theater, I have been appropriating several references and concepts that relate to the field of performance and the visual arts, in a recreation, post-production and recontextualization of materials that serve a new (dramaturgical) purpose. What is seen exceeds meaning. The place of the theater is the place of uncertainty, of the impossible, of the impalpable – hence my interest in working with the cruelty and effectiveness of performance gestures, for example, that allow areas of conflict between the real and the poetic.

During 4 days I propose to explore and appropriate materials and concepts from the Performance Art and the visual arts to develop creative actions. The body – and therefore its image – is looked at through diverse concepts: its simple presence and absence on the scene, its unfolding, its objectification, its fantasy, its word, its materiality or eroticism.
