The 5th edition of BoCA, which runs from September 10 to October 26, 2025, in Lisbon and Madrid (Portugal, Spain), invites professional artists belonging to indigenous communities or with a direct link to these communities, from Iberescena member countries, to present an artistic creation project to be developed in October 2025, in the city of Lisbon, Portugal.
Under the title “Voices of resistance: marginalized identities at the heart of artistic creation”, BoCA proposes 1 artistic creation residency at CAMPUS BOCA, in October 2025, welcoming 1 artist from Ibero-America who wants to explore new territories and interdisciplinary artistic languages.
In this context, the artist residency program will focus on providing a space for research and experimentation for artists and collectives from underrepresented genres, belonging to indigenous communities and peoples originating in the geographical areas of Latin America and Spain. The aim is to analyze the cultural similarities and differences between the intersections of indigenous worldviews and Western thought, through the exploration of themes such as colonialism, identity, feminism, gender studies and environmental rights.
During the residency process, the artist is invited to lead a workshop open to the local artistic community and to organize a meeting with the local community in Lisbon. At the end of the residency, the creative process will be shared in the form of an informal public presentation, followed by a discussion on the themes covered and the participant’s artistic practice, thus fostering cultural exchange.
