Vuduvum Vadavã, Marta Ângela's alterego (half of Von Calhau!), proposes an inner and outer auditory journey through the spinal flute and other channels of the body that vibrate with the pulse of the universe.

To celebrate the National Day of the Roma Peoples, the Municipal Galleries bring to the Quadrum Gallery, on 24 June, the show Música Cigana Camões Yanomami / A Soma de Todxs, a surprising combination between the poetry of Camões, texts by Davi Kopenawa (Yanomami indigenous leader) and Roma Music.

“Incorpóreo” is one of the most challenging solo exhibitions by Glantosz (João Melo), a young photographer from Faro who, at the age of 18, addresses complex themes such as conflict, sensitivity and the problem of accountability in the contemporary world.

Written in 1896, Georg Büchner's "Woyzeck" has not ceased to unsettle contemporary theatre. In this project, Cláudio da Silva, Carolina Dominguez and Pedro Paiva reflect on this manifesto that continues to identify the strategies of perversion of human dignity.

An empty room and a chair. José Paulo Sobral de Figueiredo describes his life as a commando, mercenary and homeless man. The presentation of Salomé Lamas' powerful "No Man's Land" at the Church of São Pedro de Alcântara offers a new look on this multi-awarded film.

A dancer who could not dance, a singer who could not sing, an actor who could not act, a writer who could not write, a painter who could not paint. A piece for song and dance based on the songs "Dichterliebe" (Poet's Love[s]) by Robert Schumann.

In this dance and performance workshop, we will explore the possibilities of modulating presence – playing with body and vocal performance in the encounter with the other. Through improvisation and composition exercises, participants will focus on the tension between body, voice and identity.

Under an invitation from BoCA, visual artist Agnieszka Polska creates her first theatre piece, with interpretation by Albano Jerónimo, Íris Cayatte, Vera Maintaino, Bartosz Bielenia and Aaron Ronelle. A group of people travel in a car that doesn't stop. A tale about one's role in the complex system of human and nonhuman agents and socio-technological infrastructures.

In this performance in process, Gaya de Medeiros departs from Pina Bausch's "Café Müller" to weave a multigenerational reflection on depression, ageing and the future.

Lolo & Sosaku, one of the most inventive duos in contemporary art, investigate the possibilities of sculpture as an expanded field, in relation to performance, sculpture and sound. At BoCA, they create a new performance that is presented in two unique nights, in Lisbon and Faro.

With a text by Djaimilia Pereira de Almeida, Zia Soares brings together a set of disturbing vocals while reflecting on historical silencing and the political and subjective power of the voice.

LOLO & SOSAKU

Lolo & Sosaku, one of the most inventive duos in contemporary art, investigate the possibilities of sculpture as an expanded field, in relation to performance, sculpture and sound. At BoCA, they create a new performance that is presented in two unique nights, in Lisbon and Faro.

Dengo Club is “a collective of black immigrants in Lisbon, creating a safe space for women, LGBTQI+ people, people of color and immigrants”, in the words of Saint Caboclo. A special party in partnership with BoCA takes place on September 16th at MOME, with a focus on new talents.

YERI & YENI, RUTE LOPES, JZAUGUST

Within the scope of musical, performative, cinematographic and reflection activations around the installation "What if the autobiographical is nothing more than the history of others passing through us?" by Gabriel Chaile, in Praça do Carvão at MAAT, Lisboa Criola collaborates in programming the 2nd activation date. With a concert by Yeri & Yeni, Rute Lopes and Jzaugust.

PAUL B. PRECIADO

Drawing inspiration from Kafka's text in which a monkey who has learned human language addresses an academy of scientists, Paul B. Preciado directs a collective reading by five voices, aimed not only at the psychoanalyst community but at each one of us and our ability to embrace change and imagine a new utopia.

The questions raised by the performance "Can the monster speak?" by Paul B. Preciado invite a reflection on contemporary phenomena of proliferation, such as gender, or determined by a logic of excess, such as acceleration and speed.

New creation by sound artist João Pais Filipe and dancer Marco da Silva Ferreira crosses the traditional practice of Alcáçovas' rattle art with contemporary artistic practices, anchored in percussion and dance.

Marina Herlop brings her garden of sonic references, South Indian Carnatic music and her alien vocal acrobatics to the National Pantheon in Lisbon.

MILO RAU

"The New Gospel", winner of the Best Documentary award at the Swiss Film Festival, is both a recording of the theatre play's rehearsals and, behind the scenes, a documentation of Cameroonian political activist Yvan Sagnet's struggles – the first black Jesus in the history of European cinema.

In her Algarve debut, Marina Herlop brings her garden of sonic references, South Indian Carnatic music and her alien vocal acrobatics to the Associação Recreativa e Cultural dos Músicos de Faro.

"A Revolta do Milho" is a theatrical recreation of the peasant uprising of June 1942, bringing to light the memory of this episode of civil resistance, with the fundamental participation of women, omitted from Portuguese history for so many decades.

Surrendered to the obsessive desire to wander, in a hypnotizing trance, the Norwegian saxophonist and the Portuguese dancer and actor meet at the National Pantheon, in Lisbon, for a special collaboration performance.

On Saturday, 14 October, BoCA celebrates the end of its programme at Musicbox. King Kami, DJ Narciso and Mel are the DJs chosen to close the 4th edition of this celebration of art, with a programme identity based on crossings between artistic territories, between languages and geographies, between times and spaces.
