Ntando Cele was born in South Africa and lives in Bern, Switzerland. She studied theatre in Durban and at the DasArts Academy in Amsterdam. Her work crosses the boundaries between physical theatre, video installation, concert and performance. She combines text, music and video to recreate her own identity on stage.
In her plays, she questions the concept of identity, investigates prejudices and dismantles stereotypes. “Knowing that a society is multicultural doesn’t necessarily mean that intercultural understanding exists.”
In this workshop, entitled “Turning shit into gold”, Ntando proposes using empathy as a tool for autobiographical creations. Where do you draw the line when searching for personal stories? Together, artist and participants will explore tactics that build your authentic voice in your creation.
