Jérôme Bel
Disabled Theater

6 April

Porto – FBAUP Biennial 17 Theatre

Jérôme Bel works with non professional dancers to explore questions which go beyond representation. In “Disabled Theater” he researches with 11 mentally disabled actors from the Swiss based company Theater HORA.

He examines the dynamic that leads to the social exclusion from those who cannot produce. The actors disclose themselves, without subterfuge, crude and tough as the reality they live in, revealing they have the ability to question the very own mechanisms of representation. “Disabled Theater” is an important step towards the democratization of dance.
