BoCA – Biennial of Contemporary Arts is an international biennial of contemporary arts with a focus on transdisciplinarity (or extradisciplinarity). It establishes a synergy between cities (Lisbon, in dialogue with two other cities), cultural institutions (theaters, museums, galleries, material heritage), integrating actions in the public space, artistic territories (performance, performing arts, visual arts, music) and the their respective audiences. At the same time, throughout each biennium, BoCA develops the expansion of its activities through programming cycles presented in other Portuguese and foreign cities.

So far, two editions of the biennial have been held, with artistic direction and programming by John Romão.
The 4th edition will take place between 1st September – 15th October 2023 in Lisbon and Faro.
