According to the paradigm of change and evolution of the media, Aram Bartholl not only asks what man does with the media, but what the media do with the man. The tension between public and private, online and offline, technology and daily life are the score of his artistic creation. Through interventions and public facilities, Bartholl examines what elements of the digital world can affect reality.

“Dead Drops” is an anonymous and offline network of archiving and sharing of digital files to be found in the public space of the cities of Lisbon and Porto.

USB pen drives are cemented into walls and buildings accessible to anyone in the public space. Everyone is invited to save information or find files on a USB stick, connecting the laptop to the pen drives that are glued to the walls of the two cities. You can share your favorite files and data with strangers and access other data left anonymously on devices. “Dead Drops” is open to participation and promotes a messaging network and file transfer off the grid.
