18 August 2020

The 4th edition of the BoCA Summer School is back to Lisbon. It started in June, with a workshop led by Argentine choreographer Cecilia Bengolea, “Dance – Video – Ecosystem”, addressing her anthropological practice in urban dances and, specifically, in Utopian Dances.

From the Spanish artist Dora García we can highlight the representation of Spain at the 2015 Venice Biennale and the retrospective that the Reina Sofia Museum made of her work in 2018. Dora García comes to Lisbon for the first time to conduct a performance / visual arts workshop at MAAT , from 4-6 September. With the title “The Invention of Morel”, the artist asks: how to react to a system of reality of which we are not part?

Then, between 15-18 September, the North American dance and performance duo Gerard & Kelly (Residents of BoCA 2019/2020) returns to Lisbon to propose a workshop aimed at students and professionals in the performing arts, at Vítor Córdon Studios.

In the same week, from 17-20 September, we count on the return of the German director Stefan Kaegi / Rimini Protokoll to Culturgest to conduct a workshop where he will explore materials for his next show, “Conference of Absentees”, and for which he calls for interpreters, directors and writers to participate.

And to close this edition, filmmakers João Pedro Rodrigues & João Rui Guerra da Mata run a cinema workshop, “Fiction 2 meters away”, where they address the importance of conquering collective freedom “because cinema is not made alone and, even more difficult, the individual, because we have to face our demons. What to do? Writing, as Guibert implored, or, in our case, FILMING. ” Participants are invited to bring their film sketches or audiovisual projects.

Given the panorama of the current crisis that affects cultural professionals, BoCA Summer School 2020 offers:
– Accessible registration conditions: reduction of 50% of the values ??usually practiced in previous editions;
– Special conditions for GDA Foundation Artist Cooperators: mostly € 20 registration per workshop;
