GERARD & KELLY
Resident Artists 2019-2020

 

Influenced by minimalist dance, institutional criticism, and queer theory, Brennan Gerard and Ryan Kelly work on the frontier of dance and contemporary art that integrates performance, writing, video or sculpture.

Their exhibitions and performances were presented by the Festival d’Automne (Paris), Chicago Biennale of Architecture, Guggenheim Museum (New York), New Museum (New York), Made in LA Biennale at the Hammer Museum (Los Angeles), Palais Tokyo (Paris) and The Kitchen (New York). Gerard & Kelly completed the Whitney Museum Independent Studies Program in 2010 and received their Masters of Fine Arts from the Art Department of UCLA – University of California at Los Angeles in 2013.

Gerard & Kelly have received numerous awards for their work, including scholarships from the New England Foundation for the Arts’ National Dance Project, Art Matters, Graham Foundation, FUSED (French US Exchange in Dance) and New York Dance and Performance Awards Jury Prize, also known as the Bessies. Their work is in the collections of the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles and the Guggenheim Museum in New York. Their projects benefited from artistic residences in the CN D – Center National de la Danse (Paris) and New Museum (New York).
