Conversations with different guests about Body, Science, Thought, Community, Sustainability, Imagination, in relation to Covid-19, moderated by Cláudia Galhós, Vítor Balenciano and the Generator team. The conversations are live on the BoCA Bienal YouTube channel.

MAY 1: Ana Gomes, 8pm

Ana Gomes (1954) was a member of the European Parliament between 2004 and 2019, for the Socialist Party Grupo S&D – Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats.
In the European Parliament, she served on the External Relations Committee (having been coordinator of the S&D Group), on the Development Committee, on the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs, on the Subcommittee on Human Rights and on the Subcommittee on Security and Defense. Ana Gomes was a member of the Delegations for Relations with the USA, for Relations with Iraq and the Union for the Mediterranean. She was a member of the Special Investigation Commissions on CIA flights, on the LuxLeaks scandal (TAX1 and 3). She was Vice-Chairman of the Commissions of Inquiry on the Panama Papers and on the Paradise Papers (TAX3). She was the S&D coordinator of the Special Commission of Inquiry on Terrorism (TERR). He led several EU / PE Election Observation missions (Ethiopia, East Timor, Sudan, Myanmar, Georgia, etc.). Law degree from the Faculty of Law of Lisbon (1972-1979). A career diplomat since 1980, he suspended his duties in 2003 to dedicate himself to political activity.
As a diplomat, she served in UN missions in Geneva and New York and at embassies in Tokyo and London. Between 1999 and 2003, Ana Gomes was head of mission and ambassador in Jakarta, having followed the process of independence from Timor-Leste and the restoration of Luso-Indonesian diplomatic relations. She was a member of the National Secretariat of the Socialist Party (PS), responsible for international relations (2003-2004). He is a grassroots activist in the PS. Ana Gomes maintains a weekly political commentary program at SIC Notícias.
